Many idols have been vocal about their love for anime that even fans have asked for recommendations or what series their favorite idol is currently watching. We’ve previously released a list of anime that idols have mentioned, but due to the amount of anime lovers in the K-Pop scene, we’re back with a part two! So let’s take a look at more anime recommendations from your favorite K-Pop idol!  

1. LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura: “Jujutsu Kaisen”

Genre: Supernatural, action Summary: Upon swallowing a cursed talisman to gain the strength needed to save a life, a boy becomes cursed. He enters a shaman’s school in order to locate the other parts of the cursed talisman in order to exorcise himself. When “Jujutsu Kaisen” premiered in 2020, it became a global hit among anime fans across the globe. Sakura seemed to think so too, sharing her thoughts about the anime on her radio program. She praises the tempo of the story, the excellent animation, and how every character has their own charm.  

2. N.Flying’s Yoo HweSeung: “Demon Slayer”

Genre: Action, adventure, drama Summary: A demon attack leaves only two family members alive — Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, who is slowly turning into a demon. Tanjiro sets out to become a member of the demon slayer corps to avenge his family and cure Nezuko. “Demon Slayer” received multiple praises for its gripping storyline, beautiful animation, and amazing OST. Other members of N.Flying credit HweSeung as the person to introduce them to new shows and popular Japanese songs. What’s more, they’ve even performed their own rendition of the opening song for “Demon Slayer”. An anime recommendation and a cover, what a great combo!  

3. MONSTA X’s MinHyuk: “My Hero Academia”

Genre: Action, superhero, comedy Summary: In a world filled with superheroes and supervillains, Izuku Midoriya is born without any super powers a.k.a. quirkless. This all changes when he meets his role model, All Might. Midoriya is then given the opportunity to enroll in a prestigious hero academy. When talking about the current top shows in the world of anime, “My Hero Academia” is sure to be on many people’s list. MinHyuk doesn’t shy way from talking about his love for anime. He is known to collect figurines and has even mentioned his favorite character of the series, Todoroki Shoto, on MONSTA X’s fancafe.  

4. EXO’s D.O.: “Prince of Tennis”

Genre: Sports, coming-of-age Summary: Tennis prodigy, Ryoma Echizen, moves from America to Japan and attends Seishun Academy Middle School. There, he participates in various matches against fellow students and becomes a regular on its tennis team. Despite making its anime debut in 2001, with its likeable characters and moving plot, “Prince of Tennis” cemented itself in the hearts of many, including D.O. himself. On “EXO Showtime”, EXO’s ChanYeol revealed that he witnessed D.O. cry while watching “Prince of Tennis”. Now that’s one convincing reason to watch this anime.  

5. Kang HyeWon: “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”

Genre: Coming-of-age, slice of life Summary: Five childhood friends reunite due to the appearance of their dead friend’s ghost, demanding that they grant her final wish. During a fan sign event, HyeWon revealed that “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, simply known as “Anohana”, was the first anime she ever watched. If there’s one thing that Kang HyeWon has, it’s taste. “Anohana” is an emotional rollercoaster that many anime fans fondly remember due to its poignant storytelling and the raw, heartfelt emotions from its unforgettable characters.  

6. Stray Kids’ Bang Chan: “Food Wars”

Genre: Comedy, slice of life Summary: Teenage chef, Soma Yukihira, enrolls in a prestigious culinary school in order to improve his skills and surpass his father. Bang Chan revealed in a December 2020 VLive that he had started watching “Food Wars” and recommended STAYs to watch it for the plot. Anyone who gives this anime a chance will definitely enjoy it for many more reasons. “Food Wars” is filled with scenes of young chefs showcasing their culinary prowess, as they create mouth watering dishes that will surely get your stomach rumbling at any time of the day.  

7. GOT7’s Jay B: “Fullmetal Alchemist”

Genre: Fantasy, action, adventure Summary: Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, attempt a forbidden alchemic technique which leaves their bodies forever altered and damaged. Afterwards, they set off on a journey in search of the one thing that can fix them: the philosopher’s stone. “Fullmetal Alchemist” is a cult classic among anime fans across the globe. There’s just something about the unbreakable bond between the two brothers that keeps your eyes glued onto the screen and your heart yearning for their success. On his Instagram live in January 2021, a fan asked Jay B for a recommendation. He happily responded with “Fullmetal Alchemist”, stating that it’s the anime of his life.  

8. SUPER JUNIOR’S HeeChul: “Love Live!: School Idol Project”

Genre: Slice of life, comedy Summary: Students come together to form a school idol group in order to prevent their school from closing. On multiple occasions, HeeChul has recited the famous line from his favorite character, Nico Yazawa, “Nico Nico Nii”. He continues to show his endless love for the series by wearing hoodies, shirts, and uploading pictures of figurines he has collected.
