Concept
DREAMCATCHER’s concept for “Summer Holiday” revolves around combining the brightness and happiness of summer and their classic dark occult vibe. It explores varied genres and concepts, all in one compact mini-album and as such, the members are able to show their talents freely. Three group concept images were released for this comeback, each with a distinct mood. The first group image (above), has a summer camping mood with the members looking joyful in the sweet summer. The second group image (below), has an angelic concept with the members in all-white, bathed in purple light. They look gorgeous but mysterious nonetheless. The third group image (below), is classic DREAMCATCHER. The members are in all-black this time, with dark makeup against a dark background. It echoes the rock metal concept of the group and reinstates their aesthetic. Each group photo corresponds to a particular mood that is embodied in the songs.
Fashion and Appearance
Individual concept photos were released for each group photo concept. In the first set of individual photos, the members are seen wearing light and comfortable outfits against the backdrop of the wide blue ocean. The beachy vibes are translating perfectly into the dreaminess of the members. Blue, green and white are the predominant colours in this set. For the individual photos released for the second group photo concept, the members are sporting lace in all its glory. The white dresses they’re wearing are gorgeous, especially with all the unique styles. From off the shoulder to a corset bodice, sheer to plunging necklines, the DREAMCATCHER members look like a dream. The concept of light colours was also carried over in the group’s comeback showcase, where the members wore pastel blue outfits for their performance along with white laced-up, knee-high or thigh-high boots. Finally, the last set of individual photos showcase the members looking their mysterious best. Chains and leather, long nails and satin, it doesn’t get any better than this! The dark makeup, with bold red bitten lips and smudged eyeliner, is a DREAMCATCHER trademark. This holy trinity of aesthetic concepts is easily one of the best ones DREAMCATCHER has taken on so far.
Dance
DREAMCATCHER are known for their unique and elaborate choreography and the choreography for ‘BEcause’ is no different. One of the killing points in the dance comes within the first 30 seconds with the doll dance.
One of the best parts about DREAMCATCHER’s choreography is how well they suit the moves to the concept. One can tell just from looking at it that the song speaks of love, obsession and misguided desire. This is a rare feat and DREAMCATCHER has mastered the art.
Music
“Summer Holiday” is made up of 6 songs spanning 18 minutes and 51 seconds. The songs are ‘Intro’, ‘BEcause’, ‘Airplane’, ‘Whistle’, ‘Alldaylong’ and ‘A Heart of Sunflower’. LEEZ and OLLOUNDER actively participated in the production of the album as well as the songwriting. A music video was released for the title track ‘BEcause’ which perfectly shows how DREAMCATCHER has combined two seemingly opposite concepts. The video is set in an amusement park which is just the right amount of creepy.
