This series will get to know some of the female idols who are girl crush material. A ‘girl crush’ is defined as a woman or girl who is the object of one’s admiration. In other words, one of the female K-Pop idols that fans wish was their best friend or girlfriend. This can be based on their style, personality, overall vibe, etc. BLACKPINK’s Lisa opened the series for us followed by MAMAMOO’s HwaSa, TWICE’s JiHyo, ITZY’s RyuJin, Red Velvet’s SeulGi, Jeon SoMi, STAYC’s SuMin, LOONA’s Yves, ChungHa, and former Lovelyz member MiJoo. Readers voted for (G)I-DLE’s SoYeon in our weekly poll (at the end of the article) to be featured this week. Let’s get to know our girl crush, SoYeon! SoYeon is famous as the leader of the talented girl group (G)I-DLE that is known for their captivating performances and addictive melodies. She is also popular as a solo artist. You may also have seen her on the survival shows “Produce 101” and “Unpretty Rapstar 3”. She is known by the acronym SBM (Survival show Born Monster) for appearing in so many of them including “Queendom”. She is known for having been involved in the musical arrangement and songwriting for (G)I-DLE’s hit songs ‘Latata’ and ‘Hann’. She has written and produced many songs for both her group and other K-Pop artists including CLC, SHINee’s Key, Girls’ Generation’s HyoYeon, and more. In fact, when somebody hears the name ‘SoYeon’ her talent is a given assumption. She is acknowledged in the Korean music industry as a songwriter and producer with genius-level skills. There is even an acronym using her initials JSY. J stands for JYP Entertainment-like trendiness, S is for SM Entertainment-like initiative, and Y is for YG Entertainment-like hipness. Hence, she is also known as an all-around player artist. You can watch her live performance here.
Recently, she was announced to be one of the judges on the survival show “My Teenage Girl” that will be premiering on Nov. 28. Fans are looking forward to hearing the advice she will give to aspiring idols as an industry expert. SoYeon is said to have a cold exterior and cool vibe, but she is actually extremely adorable and has cute energy. Even Jessi was surprised by her duality. You can see a lot of her cuteness in the “Showterview” episode she was in.
Here is more proof that she is the queen of duality. Unfortunately, before she debuted a lot of people doubted her ability to debut because of her visuals. She has shared that it caused insecurities for her to hear comments like that. However, they are mistaken because she is absolutely gorgeous and it shows in her photos.
